Every year I battle encroaching dog-strangling vine so that it won't take over my garden. But it wasn't until I recently walked down this pollinator pathway that I learned I'm also helping monarch butterflies, too. Their caterpillars can only survive on milkweed, but the adult monarchs accidentally lay their eggs on DSV because it tastes the same. More fuel for my burning hatred of this viciously invasive plant!
This alley used to be all DSV and buckthorn, but volunteers have done a bang-up job of reclaiming it for native species. You'll be able to read all about it when you get there...and find a cache at the same time.
Container is more like the size of 2 apples, so there's room for TBs and swag. Pencil included. I don't see overgrowth or deep snow ever being too much of an issue, unless you're using a mobility device. Steer clear of school start and end times to avoid peak pedestrian traffic.
