The K6—born in 1935 to honor the Silver Jubilee of King George V—was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, a man with an eye for elegance and an instinct for endurance. Thousands of these crimson kiosks soon dotted the streets of Britain, weathering rain, fog, and time itself.
This particular kiosk, though, has a story with… gaps.
A 1992 newspaper clipping whispers that Doug Thayer discovered it in a Buffalo, NY warehouse. It was said to have been built in England in the 1940s. How it journeyed across the ocean is not recorded. How it made its way to Watkins Glen is a matter of public memory. Some claim it once rang, long after its wiring was removed.
