Geocache Description:

Long before its arrival at the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce, a certain red relic stood watch elsewhere in town—quiet, unblinking, and far too heavy to move without effort… yet somehow it seems to appear exactly where it wishes to be.

Most people see only a quaint British phone box. But seasoned travelers know better.
The K6—born in 1935 to honor the Silver Jubilee of King George V—was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, a man with an eye for elegance and an instinct for endurance. Thousands of these crimson kiosks soon dotted the streets of Britain, weathering rain, fog, and time itself.

This particular kiosk, though, has a story with… gaps.

A 1992 newspaper clipping whispers that Doug Thayer discovered it in a Buffalo, NY warehouse. It was said to have been built in England in the 1940s. How it journeyed across the ocean is not recorded. How it made its way to Watkins Glen is a matter of public memory. But what happened between those moments remains curiously absent from any official record.

Some claim it once rang, long after its wiring was removed.
Others say the booth fogs on the inside on warm days, as if something colder than air still lingers.

And yet, here it stands—silent, still, and undeniably out of place.

Approach it. Study it.
You may not learn its whole story… but it may reveal just enough for you to find what you seek.

But take heed: those who come without a pen often feel the kiosk’s gaze linger… as if it knows they are unprepared. It won’t lend you one.

So, bring a pen—or there will be no proof you were ever there.
