The sign illustrates some of the older buildings in the village, namely the church, the old school, the Mission hut, the Goodlake Arms public house and a windmill. The windmill was situated at the top of the village and now has a road named after it and the church is the only property still in use for its original purpose. The barge on the canal illustrates the existance of the old Wilts & Berks canal which passed through the village.
This is # 8 of the East Challow loop, a short loop of about 2 miles (3 km) around the village of East Challow, mainly on footpaths, but there is a short stretch along the A417.
There is parking at the first cache, near the primary school, so it will get busy at certain times of the day.

This cache belongs to the Village Sign Series, a series of caches based on ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (generally on the village green!).
The signs can be made of different materials from fibreglass to wood, from forged steel to stone. They can depict anything from local industry to historical events. The tradition probably started in Norfolk or Suffolk and has now spread across most of the country so we thought we would base a series on them!
