PA State Parks do not disappoint. This overlook is the most popular view in the Poconos. At 2133 feet, this is the highest point in the Poconos. You can see the Delaware Water Gap, the Catskills in NY and several human-made locations in Monroe County. There is information here about the geology and natural history of the area. Across the parking lot, there is a preserved building, the Cattell Cabin which served as a shelter for many years. Up here, where the wind and weather are tough, the vegetation includes Pitch Pine, scrub oak, mountain laurel (our state flower), blueberries, sweetfern and sheep laurel. This is one of the few strongholds in the Poconos for snowshoe hares. This location and hide style is placed with permission.
