Geocache Description:

Seaforth Beach Multi - Redux!

The cache is hidden on the access route to this popular beach and is a replacement for a previous similar cache, GC75VGA Seaforth Beach Multi which was hidden on 18/5/17 and archived on 27/11/25 after some 40 finds with 1 FP gained in the process.

It is an easy 6-step multi which will introduce you to the beach (if you didn't know it!) and should take around 20-30 minutes to complete.

The cache is in a busy location and, although there is some cover, you will need to watch out for muggles and employ suitable stealth tactics as you carry out your operations. Please ensure that the cache is carefully replaced properly concealed - thanks!

To find the cache:

Step 1: head for S 34 11.634 E 18 26.852 where, looking to the south-west you will see A brick steps (including the top one) leading from the lower level to upper level of the path around the rocks.

Step 2: move over a short distance north-west to S 34 11.635 E 18 26.839 where you will see a notice attached to the top of the large flat rock banning a certain type of activity. This word has B letters in it.

Step 3: now proceed a further short distance to S 34 11.644 E 18 26.839 the location of a Seaforth Beach sign. On this it recommends staying at least C metres away from penguins to avoid being bitten.

At the same spot, if you turn with your back to the sea, you will see a row of D disused cubicles (presumably old changing rooms) in this part of the building.

Step 4: head across to the corner @ S 34 11.657 E 18 26.831 where you will find two richly illustrated information boards. On the Rocky Shores board the number of oystercatchers depicted = E

On the Kelp Forests board, the proportion of kelp which is broken up into a Nutricious Soup is surprisingly almost F0%

Step 5: proceed to S 34 11.675 E 18 26.819 where you will see a wooden information post with G yellow bordered boxes showing what is/is not permissible when visiting the beach.

Step 6: finally, move across to S 34 11.643 E 18 26.775 the location of a fine mosaic bench dedicated to the families forcibly removed from Seaforth. The year shown is 19H8

The cache is hidden at:

Seaforth is the 'freebie' version of Boulders Beach - as penguins venture across from there to Seaforth especially early morning and evening. Despite the proximity of large naval buildings to the north, it is a fine sandy beach, set amongst large granite boulders.

It has a large parking area to accommodate the numerous visitors to here and Boulders and there are several traders in the area selling souvenirs and trinkets, and there is a large restaurant.

 1920s

It is a popular beach for Capetonians, particularly during summer and especially on national holidays, because it is a safe swimming beach for children, so families head down here to camp out for much of the day.

The grassy slopes overlooking the beach are the first spots to go because they are largely under the shade of trees - unlike the beach which is out in the open.

See here for a great short drone video of the beach and the neighbouring secluded Water's Edge beach.
