When I was looking for places I could hide a few caches, the phrase "I fits, I sits" kept popping into my mind. Normally it refers to a cat squeezing itself into the tiniest possible box (I fits, I sits!) but it also seems fitting for trying to squeeze a cache into a spot with only a few feet of clearance on either side. That is the case here, but fortunately this location provides a perfect hiding spot -- a giant valley oak right next to the trail covered with cool curtains of hanging fungus, aka instant camo.
You're looking for a camo'd preform with some extra flair. The usual hazards of ticks, poison oak, thistles, heat exhaustion, sore feet, wild pigs, and sunburn exist in the entire park, but none of those were a problem when this cache was placed. The cache is about 1.8 miles from parking and requires several creek crossings during the rainy season.
Henry Coe State Park is open 24 hours a day. Happy hunting!
