My husband and I are Ohio natives who relocated to Florida for a few years when we discovered AMI. It quickly became our favorite place to be and after moving back home to Ohio, we still visited regularly with our two children. Having a rental property of our own seemed like a pipe dream. We worked hard though and kept our eye on the market but home prices continued to creep up. It was looking like our dream would never become a reality. That is, until we found a little delapitated cottage that hadn't seen any improvements since 1969. It was PERFECT. We purchased the Lazy Lizard in 2021 during COVID and quickly fell in love. My husband renovated the entire cottage himself with blood sweat and tears and turned it into our perfect place. Little did we know that our little slice of Heaven would be practically destroyed just three short years later when three feet of surge water from Hurricane Helene overtook the home. So for a second time, blood, sweat, tears, and a whole lot of love went into renovating our perfect place (again). We are happy to say, she's up and running again and even better than before.
While we were cleaning up from the flood, I found this geocache that my children and I made but never got around to hiding. It survived and no water had gotten inside! We decided to name it after the house and hope you enjoy finding it!! While we miss the view of the Rod and Reel and City Pier, Bayfront Park still remains one of our favorite places to hang out. Happy hunting!
