CARYL STATION
This playground sits on the former site of the Caryl Avenue Station on the New York and Putnam Railroad. Also known as The Old Put.
The station was constructed by Julius H Caryl in 1891, and donated to the city of Yonkers 1892. The line was electrified in 1926.
The last passenger train stopped here in 1943. The line was closed for freight traffic in 1982.
There are plans to turn the route of the old train line into a public greenway.
