Portage AK
Portage Alaska has a rich history. There were over 100 people living here until the 1964 earthquake. There are many activities in the area. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is just up the street and if you look across from the cache you can see it. This is where the road to Whittier starts and the Portage Valley is beautiful with so much to do. The trails in the valley are plentiful and usually kept up well. The campground is a great place to set up your base camp for an entire weekend of geocaching.
The new road is nice and they left many places to pull over and explore. This is a good spot for taking a snowmache ride up to the Spencer Glacier.
