Cold Cache Crew 2026 presents...
Frozen Waterfalls - Spray Falls

Located in Alger County, Spray Falls is a remote, 70-foot cascade waterfall in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and plunges directly into Lake Superior. It is best viewed by the lake via a boat cruise or kayak, but you can see a little bit from the North Country trail. The 1856 shipwreck of the "Superior" lies in about 20 feet of water at the base of the falls, a tragic piece of local history. Another unique feature is with strong winds from the lake, the spray can be pushed upwards, creating the illusion of an "upside-down waterfall". In the winter, the falls transform into a stunning ice formation creating ice curtains that ice climbers enjoy climbing.
