Geocache Description:

Didcot GeoCache Series

After our recently placed GeoCache Series at Great Western Park (GWP) (cache #1-11, 14, 17-19), central Didcot (cache #12-13, 15-16, 20-25), Harwell Campus (cache #26), and Chilton (cache #27-28), we decide to place a few more caches in other parts of Didcot and surrounding villages, in order to honour local heros, and to reflect our rich local history, stories and heritage. We hope you will enjoy these new caches and may also learn something when you are caching, thank you!

Didcot #29 - All Saints' Church (Officially known as Church Micro 13130...Didcot - All Saints)

About this multi-cache:

At the published coordinates, you will be standing in front of the church gate. Please look up and find a wooden plaque. The total number of fallen soldiers during WWI on the plaque is AB.

Now please move to Stage 2, where you will be looking for the gravestone of Edith. Edith passed away on Cth June 19DE, aged FG years.

Then please move to Stage 3, where you will be looking for the gravestone of Edwin and Jeanette. Edwin was born in 18HJ, and Jeanette passed away in 19KL

Finally, please move to Stage 4, where you will be looking for the gravestone of George and Gertrude. George was born in 18MN, and Gertrude passed away in 19PQ.

The final coordinates are some distance away at:

N51 36. ( B - A - L ) ( F + D - G - E ) ( A + C )

W001 14. ( M + H - K - L ) ( P + L - J - N ) ( P - Q )

The checksum of all the digits in the final coordinates is 44.

Please also note:

The church opens daily from 9am to 5pm, you do not need to enter the church building to complete the stages.

Please do not park on Lydalls Road or in front of the church, as it is permit holders' parking only.

Please bring your own pen, and open & close the cache lid carefully so the cache and log book can survive longer. You might need a tweezer to help retrieve the log paper.

Please also replace exactly as found due to obvious reason, and please be careful with the possible thorns, stinging nettles, and overhead tree branches! Long sleeves, trousers, and gloves are recommended.

Thank you and enjoy GeoCaching!

FTF: Congratulations to Daffodilbob for their FTF on 7 December 2025!
