Mindungsan (민둥산) in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do rises to about 1,118 meters and is famous across Korea for its wide, treeless summit covered in silver grass. In autumn the ridges turn into a shimmering sea of reeds, drawing crowds for the annual Silver Grass Festival and earning the mountain a place among Korea’s five great silver grass sites.
I visited on a perfect fall day with the whole family. The silver grass was in full bloom and the closer we got to the top, the busier the trail became. By the time we reached the summit it was so crowded that we had to queue for nearly ten minutes just to take a quick family photo at the marker.
This cache is placed along the access road roughly three quarters of the way up, at a point where the climb is still gradual and the first broader views start to open up. It is meant as a simple, quick find to break up the ascent before you join the main crowds near the top.
강원도 정선에 있는 민둥산은 해발 약 1,118m로, 나무가 거의 없는 정상과 넓게 펼쳐진 억새 군락으로 유명한 산입니다. 가을이 되면 능선 전체가 은빛 억새로 뒤덮여 바다처럼 출렁이고, 이 풍경을 즐기기 위한 억새 축제가 열리면서 전국 5대 억새 명소 중 하나로 손꼽힙니다.
이 캐시는 가을에 가족과 함께 민둥산을 찾았을 때 숨겨 두었습니다. 외할머니·외할아버지와 쌍둥이 딸들까지 모두 함께한 산행이었고, 억새가 한창이라 정상 부근은 사람들로 가득했습니다. 정상석에서 가족사진을 한 장 찍기 위해 줄만 10분 넘게 서 있었을 정도였습니다.
캐시는 정상에 오르기 전, 산 중턱으로 오르는 도로 구간 중 약 3/4 지점에 숨겨져 있습니다. 경사가 아직 완만하고, 슬슬 전망이 트이기 시작하는 구간이라 올라가는 길에 잠깐 쉬면서 찾기 좋은 위치입니다.
차량 통행에 주의해 주시고, 찾은 후에는 처음과 똑같이 잘 숨겨 주세요. 천천히 걸어 올라가면서 민둥산의 아름다운 억새 능선을 마음껏 즐기시길 바랍니다.
