Didcot GeoCache Series
After our recently placed GeoCache Series at Great Western Park (GWP) (cache #1-11, 14, 17-19, 30-32, 35, 38), Didcot (cache #12-13, 15-16, 20-25, 29, 33-34), Harwell (cache #26, 36-37), Chilton (cache #27-28), Sutton Courtenay (cache #39) and Milton (cache #40), we decide to place a few more caches in other parts of Didcot and surrounding villages, in order to honour local heros, and to reflect our rich local history, stories and heritage. We hope you will enjoy these new caches and may also learn something when you are caching, thank you!
Didcot #41 - Northbourne Community Centre (officially known as Village Hall Series 1783 - Northbourne Com. Centre)
The Northbourne Community Centre is one of Didcot's most historic buildings, set in a beautiful green space right in the heart of Didcot. It is located at Church Street, Didcot, OX11 8DG, Oxfordshire.
The community centre used to be a church 50 - 60 years ago, and now it is run by the Didcot Arts and Community Association (DACA), a local charity.
The community centre is entirely volunteer-run for the benefit of the community. The Main Hall (13.2 x 6.5m) can accommodate up to 120 people standing. The main hall is being used for parties, local events, community groups, and fitness classes.
About this GeoCache
At the published coordinates, you will be standing in front of the entrance to the main hall. Look up and you will find two signs above the blue doors.
The number of letters in the word on the first line of the higher sign is AB.
The number of letters in the word on the second line of the higher sign is C.
The number of letters in the first word on the lower sign is D.
The number of letters in the third word on the lower sign is E.
The number of letters in the last word on the lower sign is FG.
The final coordinates are some distance away at:
N51 36. ( A + B ) ( C - A - B ) ( A + D )
W001 13. ( E + G ) ( ( C + E ) / ( F + G ) ) ( ( D - E ) * ( B + G ) )
The checksum of all the digits in the final coordinates is 55.
Please also note:
Please bring your own pen, and open & close the cache lid carefully so the cache and log book can survive longer. You might need a tweezer to help retrieve the log paper.
Please also replace exactly as found due to obvious reason, and please be careful with the possible thorns, stinging nettles, and overhead tree branches! Long sleeves, trousers, and gloves are recommended.
You do not need to enter any private land or cross any fence.
