Kolmen pisteen multikätkö, joka esittelee Santalahden luontopolun (kartta) rantareitin merimaisemia. Poluilla voi liikkua kävellen tai maastopyörällä, jos pitää teknisemmästä ajamisesta.
Kätkö on luonnonsuojelualueella, joka ei ole Metsähallituksen hallinnoima. Mahdollisuudet alueen virkistyskäyttöön ovat pääsääntöisesti ennallaan. Santalahden luontopolulla koirat on kuitenkin pidettävä aina kiinni. Muistathan huolehtia myös siitä, ettei koiran uloste jää poluille. Älä muutenkaan roskaa. Kätkölle on Kotkan kaupungin puistotoimen lupa. Kätkön löytämiseksi ei tarvitse liikutella kiviä tms.

Santalahden luontopolku sijaitsee pääosin Kotkan kaupungin omistamilla metsämailla ja ranta-alueilla Mussalossa. Reitin yhteispituus on noin 4,5 km ja se sisältää kaksi eri reittivaihtoehtoa. Noin 2,4 kilometriä pitkä metsäinen luontopolku kiertää Mussalon saaren keskiosissa sekä länsirannoilla. Rantapolku taas kulkee kallioisella saaristomeren etelärannalla, josta avautuu mahtavat merimaisemat Suomenlahden saaristoon. Tämän reitin pituus on noin 2,1 kilometriä.
Luontopolku on opastettu puihin maalatuilla merkeillä. Rantareitti on merkattu sinisillä ja metsäreitti oransseilla merkeillä. Reitti kulkee erittäin vaihtelevassa maastossa ja rastit esittelevät karujen kallioiden, metsien, merenrannan ja soiden kasvillisuutta ja eläimistöä. Näköalakallioilla voi ihastella saaristomaisemia ja seurata lintujen elämää.
Polulla on paikoin vaikeakulkuisempia osia, joissa on juurakoita ja kiviä. Reitin varrella on pitkospuita, puiden juuria ja paljaita avokallioita, jotka voivat olla liukkaita märällä kelillä. Sateen jälkeen on etenkin metsäreitillä jonkin verran kuraisia kohtia.
Rantareitin varrella on nuotiopaikka sekä pöytäryhmä. Tuothan makkaran paistamiseen tarvittavat polttopuut mukanasi, sillä grillipaikalla ei ole puita valmiina. Ethän jätä roskia nuotiopaikalle luontoon vaan tuot roskat mukanasi pysäköintipaikan läheisyydessä olevaan Molok-roskasäiliöön.
Koirat on pidettävä luontopolulla aina kiinni. Korjaathan myös koirien jätökset pois polulta.
Polulla ei ole talvikunnossapitoa. Siitä huolimatta polku on yleensä talvisin hyvin käveltävässä kunnossa, kun suuren kävijämäärät "tallaavat" polun. Paikoitellen polku voi kuitenkin olla "upottava" tai jäinen ja liukas, joten laita hyvät jalkineet luontopolulle. (lähde: www.kotka.fi)
A three-stage multicache that presents the seascapes of the coastal route of the Santalahti Nature Trail (map). You can explore the trails on foot or by mountain bike if you prefer more technical riding.
The cache is in a nature reserve that is not managed by Metsähallitus. The recreational opportunities in the area are generally unchanged. However, dogs must always be kept on a leash on the Santalahti Nature Trail. Please also remember to ensure that dog feces are not left on the trails. Do not litter in any way. The cache has a permit from the City of Kotka Parks Department. You do not need to move rocks or the like to find the cache.

The Santalahti nature trail is located mainly in forest lands and coastal areas owned by the City of Kotka in Mussalo. The total length of the trail is approximately 4.5 km and includes two different route options. The approximately 2.4 km long forested nature trail circles the central parts of Mussalo island and its western shores. The coastal trail, on the other hand, runs along the rocky southern shore of the archipelago sea, from which magnificent seascapes open up to the archipelago of the Gulf of Finland. The length of this trail is approximately 2.1 km.
The nature trail is guided by signs painted on trees. The coastal trail is marked with blue signs and the forest trail with orange signs. The trail runs through very varied terrain and the checkpoints introduce the flora and fauna of the rugged cliffs, forests, seaside and bogs. On the lookout cliffs you can admire the archipelago landscapes and observe the life of birds.
There are some more difficult parts of the trail, with roots and rocks. There are tree stumps, tree roots and bare rocks along the trail, which can be slippery in wet weather. After rain, there are some rough spots, especially on the forest trail.
There is a campfire site and a table group along the shore trail. Please bring firewood for frying sausages with you, as there is no wood available at the barbecue site. Please do not leave trash at the campfire site in nature, but take it with you to the Molok trash container near the parking lot.
Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times on the nature trail. Please also clean up dog waste from the trail.
The trail is not maintained in winter. Nevertheless, the trail is usually in good walking condition in winter, when large numbers of visitors "trample" the trail. However, in places the trail can be "sinking" or icy and slippery, so wear good footwear on the nature trail.
