I know January 10th doesn't really scream "spring!," but it's time to start thinking about starting our native wild flowers seeds so that they are ready when the ice thaws for the Chugiak Memorial garden. The Memorial Garden was planted in honor of Chugiak Alumni with service hearts who have passed on. We like to plant vegetables that can be harvested for our food pantry and native flowers.
Come by Chugiak High on Saturday, January 10th to help get some seeds started for the spring planting season. We will be starting seeds, decorating pots, and updating/designing new signs to talk about the importance of native plants in our area.
Hot chocolate and tea will be provided. When you arrive, start at the front office doors, by the flag pole, and a student member of the Chugiak Geoaching club will show you in. The event will end at 12:30 sharp so that the kids can get out and do some weekend caching with our short hours of daylight after this event!
Please RSVP with your "Will Attend" and remember that this is a school, so even if you usually spike your hot chocolate on snowy events, this is not the place for that. If you cannot be within 1,000 feet of a school, please sit this one out.
