This geocache is hidden in Waterwheel Park, a small park just under the highway from downtown Idaho Springs. At this site is the Charlie Tayler waterwheel, which was used to power a stamp mill at his gold mining operations on Ute Creek. Tayler built the waterwheel in 1893. Tayler attributed his good health to the fact that he never kissed women nor took baths. It was moved to its present site in 1946, a gift to the people of Idaho Springs by his estate. It was restored in 1988 by volunteers and private contributions. The waterwheel is considered an Idaho Springs Historical Site.
Access is via the underpass near City Hall (adjacent to the train) or via the walking path from Highway 103 across the pedestrian bridge.
This is a high traffic area in the summer months, so please use stealth when looking. It should be a relatively quick find when there aren't prying eyes around! Hidden with permission of Idaho Springs staff.
