Na obrzeżach Lubatowej, w cichej dolinie Beskidu Niskiego, w miejscu przesiąkniętym historią i pamięcią o żołnierzach walczących o wolność, wznosi się wyjątkowy krzyż pamięci. Powstał z fragmentów metalu, które niegdyś służyły wojnie, a dziś stały się symbolem wiary, odwagi i nadziei. Elementy pochodzą z pól bitewnych I i II wojny światowej – zniszczenie przekształciły w świadectwo odrodzenia i pamięci.
Autorem krzyża jest Damian Plajstek – miłośnik historii oraz twórca lokalnej strzelnicy. Z połączenia swojej pasji, wiedzy i głębokiego szacunku do przeszłości stworzył pomnik, który przypomina o losach tej ziemi i o ludziach, którzy oddali za nią życie. Wszystkie użyte części pochodzą z jego prywatnych, legalnych zbiorów i zostały trwale pozbawione cech bojowych. Konstrukcja jest w pełni zgodna z ustawą z dnia 21 maja 1999 r. o broni i amunicji (Dz.U. 2020 poz. 955 z późn. zm.), dzięki czemu stanowi bezpieczne, trwałe i wymowne świadectwo historii regionu.
Podstawa krzyża powstała ze skorupy polskiego pocisku wz. 105 mm, używanego w armatach Schneider wz. 29. Do niej przyspawano skorupę pocisku 75 mm Sherman Prod., tzw. „amerykańską”, stosowaną również w II RP.
W konstrukcji znalazły się również szklanki szrapneli z okresu I wojny światowej – elementy używane w armatach polowych wz. 1905 oraz armatach kazamatowych AW. Ramiona krzyża wykonano ze skorup pocisków przeciwpancernych Sherman, co nadaje całości surowy, żołnierski charakter.
W centrum umieszczono ryngraf z wizerunkiem Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej z Dzieciątkiem, osadzony na tle orła wz. 27. Po obu jego stronach znajdują się lance z proporczykami z napisem „Bóg, Honor, Ojczyzna”, a środkową część zdobi wstęga z hasłem „Pod Twoją Obronę”.
Tło dla ryngrafu tworzą skorupy zapalników typu KTM-1, stosowanych w pociskach 76,2 mm przez armię ZSRR.
Zwieńczenie krzyża powstało z bagnetów armii Austro-Węgierskiej typu Mannlicher M88 oraz bagnetu Carskiej Rosji wz. 1891, do których przymocowano zapalnik czasowy M8, używany w szrapnelach armii AW. Całość wieńczy krzyż z pasyjką Jezusa – symbol ofiary, przebaczenia i nadziei.
Na samym szczycie znajduje się Orzeł Wyzwolenia wz. 1918, rozpościerający skrzydła ku niebu – znak odrodzenia Polski po latach zaborów i hołd dla wszystkich, którzy walczyli o jej wolność.
Wewnątrz pojemnika znajdują się dwie pieczątki oraz poduszka z tuszem, stanowiące integralną część skrytki – nie są przeznaczone do zabrania ani wymiany.
Aby otworzyć skrytkę, odczytaj dwie daty z tablicy umieszczonej przy krzyżu.
Zapisz wszystkie unikalne cyfry występujące w tych datach, a następnie ułóż je od największej do najmniejszej – uzyskany ciąg liczb stanowi kod do kłódki.
Po zakończeniu logowania zamknij kłódkę i ustaw kod na „0000”, aby zabezpieczyć pojemnik dla kolejnych poszukiwaczy.
Na pierwszych trzech odkrywców czekają drewniaki FTF, STF i TTF.
Dodatkowo przygotowane zostały drewniaki upamiętniające to miejsce, które można zabrać jako pamiątkę.

Skrytka znajduje się na terenie prywatnym, który może być objęty monitoringiem wizyjnym. Niezależnie od pory roku najlepiej zakładać dojście wyłącznie pieszo; latem, przy suchych warunkach, teren bywa przejezdny także dla roweru górskiego lub samochodu terenowego, jednak jesienią i wiosną często pojawia się głębokie błoto, a zimą – zwłaszcza przy większej ilości śniegu – dojście bywa trudne lub niezalecane.
On the outskirts of Lubatowa, in a quiet valley of the Beskid Niski Mountains, in a place steeped in history and remembrance of soldiers who fought for freedom, stands a unique memorial cross. It was created from fragments of metal that once served war and today have become a symbol of faith, courage, and hope. The elements come from the battlefields of World War I and World War II – destruction transformed into a testament of rebirth and memory.
The author of the cross is Damian Plajstek – a history enthusiast and the creator of a local shooting range. By combining his passion, knowledge, and deep respect for the past, he created a monument that recalls the fate of this land and the people who gave their lives for it. All components used come from his private, legal collections and have been permanently stripped of combat features. The construction is fully compliant with the Act of 21 May 1999 on Weapons and Ammunition (Journal of Laws 2020, item 955, as amended), making it a safe, durable, and highly expressive testimony to the region’s history.
The base of the cross was made from the casing of a Polish 105 mm shell used in Schneider wz. 29 artillery guns. Welded to it is the casing of a 75 mm Sherman Prod. shell, the so-called “American” type, also used in the Second Polish Republic.
The construction also includes shrapnel cups from World War I – elements used in wz. 1905 field guns and AW casemate guns. The arms of the cross were made from Sherman anti-tank shell casings, giving the whole structure a raw, soldierly character.
At the center is a ryngraf bearing the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa with the Child, set against a background of the eagle wz. 27. On both sides are lances with pennants bearing the inscription “God, Honor, Fatherland”, while the central part is adorned with a ribbon bearing the motto “Under Your Protection”.
The background for the ryngraf is formed by KTM-1 fuze casings, used in 76.2 mm shells by the Soviet Army.
The top of the cross was created from Austro-Hungarian Mannlicher M88 bayonets and a Russian Imperial bayonet wz. 1891, to which a M8 time fuze, used in Austro-Hungarian shrapnel shells, was attached. The whole is crowned by a cross with a figure of Jesus – a symbol of sacrifice, forgiveness, and hope.
At the very top stands the Eagle of Liberation wz. 1918, spreading its wings toward the sky – a symbol of Poland’s rebirth after the years of partition and a tribute to all who fought for its freedom.
Inside the container are two stamps and an ink pad, which are an integral part of the cache – they are not intended to be taken or exchanged.
To open the cache, read the two dates from the plaque placed near the cross.
Write down all unique digits appearing in these dates, then arrange them from the largest to the smallest – the resulting sequence of numbers forms the lock code.
After logging, close the padlock and set the code to “0000” to secure the container for the next seekers.
The first three finders will receive FTF, STF, and TTF wooden tokens.
Additionally, commemorative wooden tokens prepared for this place are available to take as a keepsake.

The cache is located on private property, which may be covered by video surveillance. As the owner of the land and the cache, I declare that all monitoring devices operate in accordance with applicable laws. At the entrance to the area there is clear signage informing about surveillance along with the system administrator’s details.
Regardless of the season, it is best to assume access on foot only; in summer, under dry conditions, the area may also be passable for a mountain bike or a 4x4 vehicle, however in autumn and spring deep mud often appears, and in winter – especially with heavier snowfall – access may be difficult or not recommended.
