This cache placement off the Rachel Carson Trail in Hampton Community Park is part of a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) project for a 3rd-grade class in a Pittsburgh Public School. Students created "Save the Earth" travel bugs in the classroom, which are being released in this cache. I have done this for a number of years with first my STEAM Cache (GC69Q7W) in North Park, my STEAM Cache: Version 2.0 (GC9JMJ6) in Potter Park, and my STEAM Cache Version 3.0 (GCB1416) here in a different part of Hampton Community Park. I wanted to hide this new one so that the travel bugs are picked up quickly. Take a left onto the Rachel Carson Trail after walking up from parking to start your hike to the cache.
Cache is a camouflaged peanut jar and contains 9 travel bugs waiting to start their journey, along with some other items that students donated. Students are tracking how far their travel bugs travel, so please only take them if you plan on keeping them moving. Feel free to take more than one because the faster they get moving, the better.
