Didcot GeoCache Series
After our recently placed GeoCache Series at Great Western Park (GWP) (cache #1-11, 14, 17-19, 30-32, 35, 38), Didcot (cache #12-13, 15-16, 20-25, 29, 33-34, 41-42, 44-45, 47), Harwell (cache #26, 36-37, 43, 46), Chilton (cache #27-28), Sutton Courtenay (cache #39) and Milton (cache #40), we decide to place a few more caches in other parts of Didcot and surrounding villages, in order to honour local heros, and to reflect our rich local history, stories and heritage. We hope you will enjoy these new caches and may also learn something when you are caching, thank you!
Didcot #48 - Do You Like Football?
Didcot Town Football Club is a football club based in Didcot in Oxfordshire. The club is affiliated to the Berks & Bucks Football Association, and is currently members of Division One South of the Southern League. The club was founded in 1907.
Didcot Town F.C. have played at Loop Meadow at Ladygrove estate after the sale of their former Station Road ground in 1999. The ground has a main pitch and a training pitch, with the main pitch having a 150-seat main stand and a covered standing area. Their previous ground is now the site of a large car park for the town's recently built shopping centre.
Loop Meadow attracted its biggest crowd of 2,707 in 2015 when League Two side Exeter City visited in the FA Cup first round. The ground has been upgraded to meet FA Ground Specifications. Two 175 standing terraces have been erected to the Railway End and 100 seats have been added into the Main Stand.
About this GeoCache:
We frequently visit the Loop Meadow to support our local football team, and our GeoKids have trained at their Youth Team too. We also visit the nearby leisure centre quite often. We have had many good memories here.
At the published coordinates, you will be looking for a blue & yellow defibrillator provided by the Premier League. What is the location code of this defibrillator? Let it be ABCD EFG.
For the letters in the above location code, translate each letter to a number using A = 1, B = 2, ..., I = 9, J = 0, K = 1, ... method.
Then look at either side of the defibrillator, which has a green & white sticker, with some green words on it. The number of letters in the first word on the second line is H, and the number of letters in the second word on the second line is J.
The final coordinates are some distance away at:

W001 14. ( F - G - ( E / F ) ) ( H + B - ( C / D ) ) ( J - C - D )
The checksum of all the digits in the final coordinates is 58.
Please also note:
Please bring your own pen, and open & close the cache lid carefully so the cache and log book can survive longer. You might need a tweezer to help retrieve the log paper.
Please also replace exactly as found due to obvious reason, and please be careful with the possible thorns, stinging nettles, and overhead tree branches! Long sleeves, trousers, and gloves are recommended.
You do not need to cross any fence or enter any private land.
