Sharjah Maritime Museum is a cultural landmark that celebrates the emirate’s deep connection to the sea, showcasing traditional boats, pearl-diving heritage, and maritime trade that shaped Sharjah’s history.
The museum first opened in 2003 and was relocated to its current site in Al Khan in 2009. Inside, visitors encounter beautifully preserved wooden dhows, including full-sized pearling vessels, alongside fishing equipment, diving tools, and navigational instruments. Exhibits highlight the 6,000-year-old relationship between coastal communities and the sea, emphasizing how pearling, fishing, and trading sustained Sharjah’s growth. One of the most remarkable artifacts is an ancient pearl discovered in a Sharjah coastal cemetery, believed to be among the oldest known pearls in the worldVisit Sharjah.
