Geocache Description:

Winter Hunger Games

Very Lethal

At the 1988 Seoul Olympics opening ceremony, hundreds of doves were released to symbolize peace, but several landed on the cauldron, getting caught in the flame when it was lit, causing significant public backlash. This resulted in an Olympic ban, not just on birds, but a general end to using any live animals in the opening ceremonies.

In The Hunger Games, the tribute parade costumes for District 7, which is known for the lumber and paper industry, were tall, white paper fan hats and long, movable paper gowns.

For the next ten events (WHG10-WHG19), we will be either dressing up in costumes or wearing specific colors to highlight some of our favorite tribute parade and opening ceremony moments.

This event is a celebration of both peace and paper.

Participation: You can make costumes to wear with the theme of birds/feathers and/or paper; or, you may simply wear the color: white.
