Geocache Description:

The Enola Low Grade Trail is open DAWN to DUSK only.

Looking Out Over the Susquehanna - GC4P1JZ - was a cool velcro cache near here. But it somehow disappeared and was archived. I decided to not use that kind of container here.

This screw-top cup container is near a tree that is holding on to the rocks. It is tenacious in that it is holding firmly to its location. You do not need to climb the hill or touch the tree. Just step up a little. The container is nestled behind a rock. Its lid is facing the trail. After you sign the log, slide it back in with the lid toward the trail.

Be aware of snakes in warm weather.

Enjoy sweeping views of the Susquehanna River along the almost 6 mile Manor Township section of the Enola Low Grade Trail. It begins at the base of Turkey Hill and ends past the restored Safe Harbor Trestle Bridge. The ELGT then continues for at least another 20 miles. This part of the trail is 12 feet wide compressed stone with elevated observation decks, natural waterfalls, a restored caboose, picnic tables, benches, and restrooms along the way. This section follows an abandoned right of way of the Enola Low Grade Railroad, one of several branch lines of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

The first LOST on the ELGT geocaches along this trail were created in 2013 by members of L.O.S.T. (Lancaster Organization for Seeking Tupperware). The caches are distinct hides hidden and maintained by individuals. They are not interchangeable hides and containers. You can find more information about our group and events on our Facebook page (L.O.S.T Geocachers in South Central PA) or our geocaching profile L.O.S.T.
