How to get there:
The Saanich Centennial Trail – Interurban Rail Trail - passes along the east side of the park and is where the only access in or out of the park is located.
Underwood Park is nature park is about two hectares (4.83 acres) in size and is surrounded by private property. The wide trail into the pocket park is lined with aspen and cotton wood trees. Equestrians frequent this trail that leads to a nearby private stable and center. The park encloses the wetland and riparian area of Underwood Creek. Underwood Creek flows into Wray Creek a tributary of Tod Creek that drains into Tod Inlet. The parkland has a disturbed forest with cedar, garry oak and cedar trees. The understory has mosses, ferns and salal as well as blackberry, snowberry and ocean spray bushes. In the spring you may see fawn lilies and calypso orchids.
This will be a familiar area as there have been a few caches placed in this tiny park over the years. Since a neighbour blocked Wray creek 2 years ago, the old roadway path in floods. You may have to wade, the horses make the trail very muddy during the rainy season so boots may come in handy.
