Se siete in visita a Fermo, per arrivare al maestoso Duomo di S. Maria Assunta, struttura che sovrasta la città, è possibile percorrere la via del Teatro Antico. Questa via coincide con l'originale corridoio anulare esterno del teatro romano, costituito da due muri che corrono paralleli a circa 3,5 metri di distanza l'uno dall'altro. Il teatro è databile al primo secolo dell'Impero (I sec. a.C.), ma oggi restano visibili solamente le strutture che appartengono alla cavea, al corridoio anulare e all'area dietro alla scena (queste ultime sottoterra e incorporate nei palazzi che ospitano il Centro di formazione Artigianelli e il palazzo Matteucci), mentre le strutture della scena vera e propria sono andate distrutte nei lavori del 1780.

If you're visiting Fermo, to reach the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a structure that dominates the city, you can take the Via del Teatro Antico. This street coincides with the original external ring corridor of the Roman theater, consisting of two walls running parallel, approximately 3.5 meters apart. The theater dates back to the first century of the Empire (1st century BC), but today only the structures belonging to the cavea, the ring corridor, and the area behind the stage remain visible (the latter underground and incorporated into the buildings housing the Artigianelli Professional Training Center and Palazzo Matteucci). The actual stage structures were destroyed during the 1780 construction work.
