About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found on the SideTracked Series website at http://www.sidetrackedseries.info

Clarendon Station was first called Hawkesbury Racecourse when it was opened in 1870 to serve the nearby racecourse with special trains before it became a regular stop on the Cumberland line. It was renamed Clarendon on 1st November 1876. When opened it had a single track with one platform, a complex signalling system as well as a siding. It was later upgraded to 2 side platforms and a passing loop.
Located 57.2 km from Central it services Hawkesbury Racecourse, Hawkesbury Showground and Richmond RAAF base. The station became more important when the base was established in 1923. The station was upgraded in 2023 giving better access and facilities for travellers, although it is noted as being a lesser visited staton.
