Geocache Description:

North Cave Wetlands has a spectacular starling murmeration which at last count was estimated at 80,000 birds.  It's one of the natural wonders of the world and really has to be seen to be believed.  They do it at dusk so I've planned this to coincide with sunset hopefully.

There is no guarantee that it will happen but it's the right time of year and it's worth a try. I'll be waiting in the large hide at the entrance for people to arrive and then when the starlings start massing we may move across the road to see them roost in the reed beds.

North Cave wetlands is worth a walk around at any time of year, it's free to get in, there are some toilets, and the wildlife is good. You can always get there early and have a wander round first it takes about 90 minutes stopping at the hides.

Of course there'll also be the usual geochat and swapping of trackables if anyone wants to. Please remember it's winter and will probably be cold so dress accordingly. Please also bear in mind this is a wildlife reserve so perhaps leave the dogs at home we don't want to disturb the birds doing what they do.

So bring your bins and a sense of wonder and let's see some starlings.
