Coatyards triangulation pillar is situated at a height of 226 metres on high ground to the west of Longhorsley, near Wingates. Coatyards was a secondary order pillar and has the flush bracket number S3623. It was built in May 1946 at a cost of £6.14s
The pillar itself is within Wingates Wind Farm. This opened in 2013 and has a capacity of 15 MW from 6 turbines.
The pillar is on private land, so cannot be visited unless permission is sought from the landowner. However the cache is on a public right of way just to the southeast and is an easy walk from the suggested parking. If you peer above, or through, the tall hedge you might get a glimpse of the pillar about 120 metres from the cache.
From the path there are good views to the south and east.

Ye Ole Survey Monument (YOSM) is a captivating series of caches that pays homage to the remarkable legacy of OutForTheHunt's YSM series (GC45CC).
YOSM caches are strategically positioned at or near Trig Points. These triangulation stations have played a pivotal role as surveying landmarks, contributing to the mapping of expansive territories.
Some of these points, bearing historical significance, might now be situated on private land or have vanished with time. As a result, the caches are artfully placed in close proximity, reverently acknowledging the historical importance of these survey monuments.
