This wall is more than just the facade of an old building.
It is “Coloana Neamului” — the Column of the People, one of the most recognizable murals in Chișinău.
The mural is located on the wall of the Railway Workers’ Palace of Culture and was created in 201A. Its author is the Moldovan artist Radu Dumbrava, known for his works focused on historical and national themes.
The wall depicts key figures from the history of Moldova:
- B cel Mare — a ruler symbolizing strength and protection;
- Dmitrii C — a philosopher, scholar, and a “bridge” between East and West in Moldovan history;
- D — an ancient ruler of Dacia, a symbol of origins.
To find B, C, D calculate the sum of the letters of the missing part of each name (A=1, B=2, …).
Please use the names written in classical Latin alphabet, without diacritical marks.
The figures are not arranged vertically by accident.
This composition symbolizes the continuity of generations and the people’s reliance on their own history and culture — a reminder of roots that cannot be erased.
