Esquecidos pelas gerações atuais, os orelhões são um verdadeiro icone brasileiro. Havia quem ligasse para outras cidades, quem os usasse em emergências, mas o mais icônico foram as ligações a cobrar, feitas com o prefixo 9090 seguido do número de telefone. Quem não se lembra da iconica paródia da musica que tocava ao atender uma dessas ligações : “Tem pobre ligando pra mim”? 😂
Também marcaram época como coleções de cartões telefônicos, que fizeram parte da infância de muitas pessoas. Hoje, raros de se ver nas ruas graças à popularização dos celulares, os orelhões marcaram gerações.

Muito engraçado como alguns detalhes nos perdem de vista, presos na rotina, até os olhos mais bem treinados (que não é o meu caso kkk) se distraem, mas às vezes há algo que destoa, que incomoda, que foge do padrão da rotina diária, um cheiro, um som, um raio de luz no ângulo certo, que desvia seu olhar zumbi, e o invisível se torna um elefante na sala, e assim eu “descubro” aquele surrado orelhão não solitário, pois, com olhar já mais atento, vejo que ainda sobrevivem alguns na “Mais Paulista das avenidas”. Nesse cenário surge um por que não??

Forgotten by today’s generations, the orelhões (public payphones) are a true Brazilian icon. Some people used them to call other cities, others in emergencies, but the most iconic were the collect calls, made with the prefix 9090 followed by the phone number. Who doesn’t remember the famous parody of the song that played when answering one of those calls: “Tem pobre ligando pra mim” (“There’s a poor person calling me”)? 😂
They also marked an era as collections of phone cards, which were part of many people’s childhoods. Today, rarely seen on the streets thanks to the popularization of cell phones, the orelhões marked generations.

It’s very funny how some details escape our notice. Trapped in routine, even the best-trained eyes (which is not my case lol) get distracted, but sometimes there’s something that stands out, that bothers you, that breaks the pattern of daily routine: a smell, a sound, a ray of light at just the right angle, that pulls you out of your zombie-like stare, and the invisible becomes an elephant in the room. And so I “discover” that worn-out, not-so-lonely payphone, because with a more attentive look, I see that a few still survive on the “most Paulista of avenues.” In that setting, a why not?? arises.
