Paxton Weather Research has established a remote weather research station in bushland near Davidson to help record local conditions and tornado data over time.
This cache represents an active field site, set up to gather weather observations from people passing through the area. By visiting and signing the logbook, you are contributing to the ongoing record.
“We’ve got cows!”
This cache is inspired by the film Twister (1996) and its crew of storm chasers, and is the second cache in a series created in tribute to actor Bill Paxton.
Inside the container you’ll find a field log and research materials from Paxton Weather Research. Visitors are encouraged to record the weather conditions at the time of their visit. If any tornado activity has been reported locally, you are invited to note the observed or reported strength using the F0–F5 scale. All materials are optional to read and family-friendly. No knowledge of the film is required — simply add your entry to the log and continue your adventure.
Please do not remove the logbook or themed materials. Trade fairly if you take something, and return the container exactly as found, ensuring it is properly resealed.
This cache is located along the same bush track as Operation Bug Hunt, a little further along the trail. Parking is available on Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive, with access via the Caroll Trig fire trail just west of “Sidewalk with a view”.
Please be aware of local wildlife, take appropriate care, and respect the natural environment — take only photos, leave only footprints.
Thanks for visiting, and for contributing to the research.
