Welcome to the Drury lane pedestrian bridge! This place may be familiar to some of you as I had a geocache located here for 12 years until the previous iconic ‘Green Bridge’ was demolished in March of 2025 to make way for this newer, white bridge which was built and financed in partnership between Metrolinx and the City of Burlington. If this is the case, welcome back!
Needless to say, things have changed around here. The previous bridge, built in 1972 with its iconic green appearance, was demolished after more than half a century of connecting the residents of the Glenwood Park neighbourhood to the other side of the train tracks as well as providing an excellent location for trainspotting.
And that experience will continue with this new bridge, though with a few more calories burned in exchange! Compared to the previous bridge with 5 ramps on each side, this new bridge boasts 2 extra ramps at 7. And all ramps are longer and more gradual in incline compared to its predecessor. It is also taller than the previous bridge, with the span having been raised a few feet to accommodate plans for the electrification of the GO train system.
You will need to climb the bridge to locate this cache as it is located at the top of the platform connecting the 5th ramp to the 6th on the Drury lane side (see attached photo for further guidance if needed). So once you find the cache, feel free to make the remaining trek up to the top to spot some trains.
The cache container will be familiar to those of you that found the cache on the previous bridge and its continued existence on this new bridge will serve as an homage to the legacy of the previous structure. Please try to put the container back the way you found it and do not put yourself in harm's way to retrieve it.
You can park at the base of the bridge on either the Orpha street side or the Drury lane side, though the Drury side will be easiest. The cache area is wheelchair accessibe, however, the cache itself is not.
Please take caution in the winter as the bridge is quite slippery when there’s ice or snow. There is a toonie for the FTF prize.
Have fun and happy caching!!!!! :)
