Eyes Up, Lights On
When daylight fades and the forest quiets, this path tells a different story.
This is a 🌙 Night Cache, intended to be found only after dusk and before dawn. What begins at the trailside quickly turns unfamiliar once you step into the trees, shadows stretch longer than they should, and every sound feels just a little too close. Don’t worry, nothing here bites… probably.
From the posted coordinates, you’ll follow a short series of bearings. But your real guide isn’t the compass …. it’s the glow.
Fluorescent markers are placed roughly six feet up and only appear once you’re properly on the path. Shine your light, catch the next shimmer, and let it pull you forward.
Take your time. Trust the glow.
Not everything that Goes Bump in the Night wants to be found… but this one does.
🔦 Night Cache Instructions
🌌 Starting Point — Into the Dark
Begin at the posted coordinates along the trail.
There are no reflectors here. Step off the road and walk on a 240° magnetic bearing into the woods for about 9 m. This brings you into the dark ..... the first shimmer comes after.
🔦 Into the Dark → First Shimmer
Shine your light due south and walk to the first green fluorescent tape. Let it draw you in.
🕯️First Shimmer → The Watchers
Shine the light west-southwest and walk to the next waiting shimmer.
👀 The Watchers → Last Light
Head south-southwest and find the final glow for the cache.
🧭 Helpful Notes
- Bearings are magnetic, and any distances are approximate.
- At these short distances, your flashlight will be more reliable than exact degrees.
- Follow the line of shimmers rather than chasing numbers.
- If a shimmer disappears, return to the last one and re-shoot the bearing.
- A good flashlight or headlamp is strongly recommended.
- This night cache qualifies for COAP #4 Challenge.
Congrats to Elhart and 2oldbiddies for co-{FTF}
