What is this 5K Open Fun Run/Walk event about?
Firstly, it's a relatively rare opportunity to attend a T3 event! Secondly, it's a chance to get some exercise at the "secret" Cats4us training grounds, which have their roots going all the way back to when high school tracks were made out of good ol' dirt. At their most scenic, these grounds have views extending from nearby Black Mountain to Mission Peak to Mt. Hamilton and Mt. Umunhum. Why is it "open"? - anyone can attend, cacher, non-cacher, runners and walkers. This will be a rain or shine outdoor event, so come prepared...
What should I do to prepare? If you plan to run the (optional) 5K (12 laps on the inside lane) wear your running gear, although if it's been rainy, bring shoes you don't mind getting muddy. If you plan to walk the 5K, bring good walking shoes, again ones you don't mind getting muddy.
There will be no timing (you are free to time yourself) and no proscribed start/finish times. No entry fees, no shirts, no swag (except maybe some TBs). However, if you complete 5K running or walking, or a combination, you get to sign the event log! This is a BYOB event. No water is on site, but there is a drinking fountain across the street at Raynor Park.
