Geocache Description:

What's the difference between a FLC and a Winter FLC

Well the FLC is the Friday Lunch Club where you sit inside a warm restraunt and have a meal with geo-friends.  While the Winter FLC is the Frozen Lake Club where you walk out on the ice and visit with geo-friends in the elements and there's no food.  So dress warm and meet me on the lake.

When? Friday, January 30, 2026 from 12:30PM to 1:00PM

Where? At the posted coordinates on Robbins Lake.

Why? You're likely not able to walk on water in the summer time!

Come out and join other geocachers for a short time on the frozen tundra of Cedar Rapids.  We will meet and discuss whatever topics that comes up hopefully beyond the weather.  But I'm sure this will occupy the majority of our thoughts while we try and stay warm.

Look for an announcement the day prior to this event.  I will be keeping an eye on the weather and the ice conditions.  If ice conditions change, I will make the necessary revisions and still host this event.  I will adjust the terrain ratings based upon our adjusted meeting place.

I will also make an announcement if I need to cancel due to other weather related activities within 4 hours of the event.  Post your will attends to receive notifications of any announcement made.

A wave from the parking lot is nice, but that's not going to cut it to claim this event.  To earn the smiley, you must get to the posted coordinates sometime during the timeframe allocated for this event.

This will be an outdoor event.  Dress accordingly.  And always cache within your own limits.
