⚔️ The Laws of the Witness
Before you begin the Rite of the Final Witness, you must understand the nature of the Shadowed Vale. This is not a journey for the distant observer; it is a trial of the feet, the eyes, and the spirit.
The Bound Presence: The Shapers did not carve their secrets into the air, but into the unyielding sandstone and iron of this land. Those who attempt to witness from afar—from the comfort of their own hearth—will find the stones silent and the sigils cold. You must physically stand at the Nexus, the Spine, and the Sanctum. The land itself is the key; without your presence, the lock will never turn.
The Ethereal Tether: While the Shapers worked in stone, their legacy is now guarded by the Great Tether—the invisible currents of the modern air. To decode the revelations, you must carry a device capable of communing with the digital ether. Ensure your portable glass is charged and possesses the power to access the world's web, for the gates can only be opened by those with an active connection to the light.
⚔️ The Legend of the Shadowed Vale: The Master’s Gaze
Introduction: The Veil Thins
In the days of the Old Empire, when the Midland plains were a sea of tall grass and shadows, the Keepers of the Iron Chain were sent to the banks of the Macquarie. History calls them convicts, but the lore speaks of the Stone-Shapers—men who used their hammers to bind a restless Earth-Spirit into the sandstone.
They knew their work would eventually erode into the dust of time. To prevent the valley’s memory from being reclaimed by the mists, they created the Master’s Gaze —a final, secret sentinel hidden where the masonry meets the wild. You have been summoned to perform the Rite of the Final Witness . You must collect three partial revelations to unlock the location of the Gaze, or the history of this land will finally slip into silence.
⚔️ Chapter I – The Nexus and the Cartographer’s Dream
The Vigil of the Wardens
Before the Stone-Shapers departed, they established the Mark of the Unseen—a point on the road where the traveler is first judged. Stand here and look toward the Great Intersection. The wardens in the center have been waiting for your arrival, their faces turned permanently toward this spot to greet the Final Witness. Walk toward them now to reach the Nexus of the Soul.
The Four Pillars of the Weight
At the intersection, you are surrounded by the Wardens of the Four Corners:
- Salvation: The church spire reaching for a silent heaven.
- Damnation: The old police and court, where the stone still echoes with the rattle of chains.
- Temptation: The tavern, where many a Shaper traded his soul for a moment of warmth.
- Recreation: The Town Hall, the manor of assembly where the laws of the Empire were read. Here also was the Manor of Fleeting Joy, where the music of the fiddle once rose to drown out the rattle of the chain, and the spirits of the valley gathered to dance away the shadows of their burden.
The Task of the Cartographer
Approach the Pillar of Recreation. On its threshold stands a curious pedestal, its secrets guarded within. This is the Invitation of the Shapers. To move forward, you must "Accept the Invitation" and peer into the Cartographer’s Dream, a hand-drawn relic of the world as it once was.
Within the intricate lines of the map, find the Iron Serpent . A small train is frozen in time, its wooden carriages trailing like a ghost. One carriage—a heavy goods van with two barn doors—is straddling a street, caught between the world of the kept and the world of the free.
The Riddle of the Ghost-Step: "Imagine you are the cargo. Step out from the barn doors of that goods carriage and feel the dust beneath your boots. Walk the dream-path to the second street, turn your spirit right, and proceed to the second intersection beyond. Look upon the landmarks of that corner. What feature of the Old World do you find waiting for you there?"

⚔️ Chapter II – The Runes of the Ribbed Spine
The Descent to the Silver Vein
With the first revelation in hand, leave the Nexus and descend toward the water. You now stand before the Great Ribbed Spine —the bridge. To the Crown, it was a practical crossing of sand and lime; to the Shapers, it was a Gallery of the Petrified Legion, where every block was a memory held in stone.
The Shaper’s Stolen Code
The Overseers of the Iron Chain marked their territory with the Broad Arrow—the King’s brand. But the Shapers were clever. They stole this mark of government ownership and turned it into a directional code, a secret language hidden in plain sight on the iron staples that bind the parapet walls.
The Walk of the Seven Whispers
Enter the small, curved inlets (the parapets) where travelers once paused to watch the Macquarie. Within these stone alcoves, you will find the Government Arrows stamped into flush metal plates. You must record the direction of the "Whispering Arrows" to unlock the next gate:
- 1 - Start at the first inlet on your right as you step onto the bridge from the town side (the upstream edge).
- 2 - Follow the right-hand wall stepping into each inlet and face the water, recording each arrow's direction as you go.
- 3 - Cross the bridge at the far end, turn back toward the town, and continue your sequence along the opposite wall (the downstream side).
- 4 - Note: One of the eight inlets has been scrubbed clean by time, leaving only seven active runes to guide your way. If you are undecided on your last choice, I am sure you will make the Right decision
Press the tools below to decode the directional arrows. Enter the direction the arrow on the parapet points to once as you pass it. You will only make 7 entries.
⚔️ Chapter III – The Sanctum of the Unheard Cries
The Ascent of Penance
Leave the river behind and follow the invisible threads of the Stone-Shapers. Walk past the Skeletons of the Stone-Stalls and climb toward the Needle of Stone that pierces the grey sky. At the crest of the hill, stand upon the lookout and gaze at the valley before you. You have walked the path of the bound and the free; now, descend into the hollow of the Sanctum of Unheard Cries a place where the Keepers held the Mothers of the Future in shadow and stone. Though the walls have crumbled and the roofs have returned to the earth, the spirit of the site remains etched in the very dust beneath your boots.
The Trial of the Shadow-Layers
Walking past the entrance to the cottage, the path of "Layers" unfolds. In this field of ghosts, the Shapers recorded the final fate of those who passed through these walls. Seek the "Ghosts", nestled between the chapters of "Probation" and "Pardon."
The Altar of Final Accounts
The Ghosts will reveal the most silent room in the valley. In the center of this room lies a table whose dimensions are 14ft by 10ft where the final measurements of a soul were taken before they were returned to the earth.
- The Architect’s Measure: "To unlock the final revelation, you must speak the name of this most solem place where this table lies"
Press the scroll below to speak the name of this solem place.
⚔️ The Revelation: The Master’s Gaze
The mists of the Shadowed Vale part. You have gathered the fragments of the cartographer, the mason, and the architect. The Rune-Gate hums with a low, tectonic vibration, ready to yield its secrets. Combine your three revelations to find the exact location of the Sovereign Sigil.
But be warned: the Master Shaper is a master of mimicry. He does not rest openly upon the ground, nor is he a heavy block of the earth. He has become a Phantom of the Iron Leaf, clinging by an invisible bond. The Master’s Gaze is a two-faced spirit: one side bears his etched likeness, forever watching, while the other holds the names of the Seekers who found the path. Reach into the shadow and claim your place in the ledger."
The Gaze is watching. May you find what was never meant to be forgotten.
