Come and join us for a Saturday morning litter pick around the popular Straws Bridge, or "Swan Lake" as everybody calls it locally.
Straws Bridge is a nature reserve created from land reclaimed after opencast mining, and it is a haven for a wide variety of birds. There is a lot of water (so children will need to be properly supervised), but equally it is possible to walk for miles while staying on made-up paths, if that is what you prefer. For this reason, the Terrain rating has been left at 1 - but if you fancy some Terrain 3 CITOing then I am sure you will find it!
There is plenty of parking, but if the car park is filled then it is possible to park on the main road.
This is a very simple CITO - no equipment will be provided except for bin bags to put rubbish in. At minimum, attendees are asked to bring some decent gardening gloves with them. But if you do own litter-picking devices then that will make life a lot easier.
This event is being held in conjunction with the Friends of Straws Bridge, a volunteer group which helps maintain the area.
