Lock combinations: 1775
This geocache commemorates the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The Corps was founded at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia on November 10, 1775. The recent anniversary of this historic event was celebrated by Marines, young and old, all around the world. You do not have to be currently on active duty to be a Marine. As we say, "Once a Marine, always a Marine!". I earned the title at Parris Island, South Carolina in 1978, and I proudly continue to claim it.
The title of this cache is "Semper Fi!", which is short for "Semper Fidelis", the Marine Corps motto. It is Latin for "Always Faithful"; to God, our country, and our Corps.
This cache is a large ammo can. it is easily accessible along a trail that starts up a dirt road at the end of a dead-end paved road. Check the waypoints for where to park and where to start walking at the trailhead. If you have a 4WD vehicle, you can enter at the trailhead and drive to within 50 feet of GZ. Otherwise, use the parking waypoint.
When you arrive at GZ, you will spot the large ammo can behind a big tree. In order to access the contents, you will need to unlock the sides of the lid. The combinations are the same for both locks: 1775. Inside are three boxes; one for the Log, one for SWAG, and one for TB's. This cache also serves a TB Hotel. Please be sure to carefully replace everything after you are done.
A big "Thanks" goes out to XNuc, a distinguished U.S. Navy veteran, who helped me set this up. For over 250 years the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps have worked well together. We will carry on that tradition. OORAH! Semper Fi!
