Geocache Description:

March 2, 2026, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

The Route 2 Cache Corridor – Event Series is a five-event geocaching series highlighting local businesses, gathering spots, and a park along Maryland’s historic Route 2, traveling from Glen Burnie toward Annapolis throughout the year on the 2nd day of each chosen month. To make it more fun and to tie the series together, attendees can participate in the Route 2 Cache Corridor Passport. Passports (see below) will be stamped at each event, and geocachers who attend at least 4 of the 5 events will earn commemorative swag, available at the final event. One missed event is allowed, life happens!

Each event stands on its own, but together they tell the story of the communities connected by Route 2, offering geocachers a chance to explore, relax, socialize, and of course geocache along the corridor.

For the kickoff, we’re heading to a location that couldn’t be more fitting.

Mission BBQ’s very first restaurant opened in Glen Burnie on September 11, 2011, chosen to honor the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks and to reflect the founders’ goal of serving authentic barbecue while supporting military, first responders, and community heroes. Founded by Bill Kraus and Steve Newton, the Glen Burnie location grew into a beloved local eatery before expanding across multiple states. What began as a local idea between two friends quickly grew into a nationally recognized brand, but its roots remain firmly planted in this community along the Route 2 corridor. This stop honors local beginnings, community gathering, and a shared appreciation for tradition, service, and connection, all values that align beautifully with geocaching.

No purchase is required to attend this event. Feel free to join us whether you plan to eat, grab a drink, or simply socialize and talk all things geocaching; swing by for a few minutes or stay for awhile.

So come and join me — don't forget your travel bugs to be discovered and/or swapped! — as we make our way down Route 2!!
