The Mount Ousley Rest Area (Northbound) opened in May 2017 as part of road safety improvements along Mount Ousley Road, one of the main routes linking Wollongong with Sydney. This section of road carries a high volume of commuter, freight, and long-distance traffic as vehicles travel up and over the Illawarra Escarpment.
The rest area provides parking, seating, and basic facilities designed to allow drivers to stop safely before continuing their journey. It is used daily by commuters, freight drivers, and travellers passing through the area.
