Herbert George Columbine VC was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. On 22 March 1918 at Hervilly Wood, France, Private Columbine took over command of a gun and kept firing it from 9 O'Clock in the morning until 1 O'Clock in the afternoon. During this time wave after wave of the enemy failed to get up to him, and he inflicted many enemy casualties. Eventually the position became untenable. Private Columbine told the two remaining men to get away, with the words "Save yourselves, I'll carry on". Although he was being bombed on either side, he kept his gun firing, until he was killed by a bomb dropped by a low flying aeroplane which blew him up along with his gun. He has no known grave.
The co-ordinates can be obtained by completing the adventure lab stages.
As there are some cachers who do not do lab caches, I have made an alternative way to gain the co-ordinates of this cache, by completing a jigidi puzzle that can be accessed here.
