It is an honor to have been selected to place a Virtual Cache. Having been born in Johnstown, I find it fitting to place one in Johnstown at a place listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Johnstown Inclined Plane also holds the Guiness World Record as the steepest vehicular funicular in the world and is designated as a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark. The Johnstown Incline became operational in 1891, two years after the Johnstown 1889 Flood. The funicular was closed for revovations in 2021 and is expected to be operational again sometime this year after tests and inspections are completed.
To get credit for this cache, climb the steps across the street to the flag and take a picture at the given coordinates of yourself (face need not be included) capturing the view of Johnstown and the sign for the Incline Plane on the building at street level. There is a restaurant and a visitor center there which may make parking tight when they are open. There is also an Observation Deck at street level.
