Geocache Description:

Over the centuries, the fortress of Hohentwiel has been built, rebuilt, repaired, blown up, reconstructed, and reinforced yet again. In short: this stronghold is a perpetual construction site with an epic project timeline and currently in a structural condition that, according to § 17 (3) of the Regulation for the Supervision of Historical Permanent Construction Sites (VÜHD), requires a periodic special inspection. As officially appointed inspectors, you are now tasked with conducting a structural assessment of the premises.

The Building Inspection:

  • Task 1: Proceed to the given coordinates. In the clearance profile between two tunnels, about 4 m above ground, you’ll find a carved stone bearing a crown. Determine the year engraved there and record it as X in your inspection report.
  • Task 2: At the next waypoint, a staircase leads downward. At the exit, on the right-hand side, there’s another stone with a year, first name, and surname. Record the surname as Y.
  • Task 3: At the designated photo waypoint, produce a proper photographic record, preferably with the ruin in the background. Acceptable images include yourself, your GPS device, or a personal item. A note showing your nickname and the date is, according to Recommendation 4.2 of the Directive on Identity Verification of External Inspection Units, explicitly encouraged. The inspector’s face does not need to be visible under the data‑protection guideline VÜHD‑GDPR.

Logging Requirements:

  • Send an email to XY@gmail.com, replacing X and Y with the values you determined. Example: 2026 + Schmidt → 2026schmidt@gmail.com You must include your Geocaching nickname in the subject line, as anonymous submissions cannot be assigned. If the address is correct, you will receive an automatic reply.
  • Attach your photo documentation to your log entry. Incomplete inspection reports cannot be processed.
