Welcome to the Harland Sanders Café and Museum in Corbin, Kentucky—the place where one of the world’s most recognizable fried chicken restaurant stories began!
Long before a famous chicken recipe became an international name, Harland “Colonel” Sanders operated a service station and roadside restaurant near this location. Sanders began serving meals to hungry travelers during the Great Depression, offering Southern favorites such as country ham, biscuits, vegetables, and fried chicken.
As his reputation grew, Sanders searched for a way to prepare chicken faster without sacrificing its flavor or quality. He eventually perfected a pressure-frying method and developed his famous blend of 11 herbs and spices. That carefully guarded recipe became the foundation of a world known fried chicken.
The original café was rebuilt after a fire, and the surviving restaurant building dates to the early 1940s. Today, the site preserves many displays and artifacts connected to Colonel Sanders, his restaurant, and the early days of the café. Visitors can step back in time while viewing the recreated kitchen, dining area, motel room, advertising displays, and equipment once commonly found at roadside service stations.
Take your time exploring the museum. The answers to the logging questions can be found by carefully examining the displays outside of the restaurant.
Logging Requirements
To receive credit for finding this Virtual Cache, please send me the answers to the following two questions through the Geocaching message system or by email:

Look at the motor oil cans. What is the hyphenated word printed at the bottom of the can?

Look at the Tireflator. What number is displayed in red?
Please do not include the answers in your online log.
You are also encouraged—but not required—to post a photograph of yourself, your group, or a personal item the cache coordinates. Please make certain that your photograph does not reveal either of the required answers.
Any log or photograph that reveals the answers may be deleted. Logs from finders who do not submit the required answers may also be deleted.
Please be respectful of the museum, restaurant employees, other visitors, and all displays. There is no need to touch, move, climb on, or disturb anything while completing this Virtual Cache.
