Die mittelalterliche Wasserversorgung der Bürger erfolgte über mehrere Brunnen, in Paderborn „Kümpe“ genannt.
Einer dieser Kümpe ist der Liborikump mit einer Statue des Heiligen Liborius.
Der ursprüngliche Brunnen wurde 1586 erbaut, Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts erfolgte der Umbau zu einem Springbrunnen mit der Liboriusfigur.
Der Heilige Liborius ist der Schutzpatron der Stadt und des Erzbistums Paderborn und hat somit eine besondere Bedeutung, nicht zuletzt auch für das grosse Liborifest.
Während des 2. Weltkrieges wurde Paderborn fast vollständig zerstört, aber „wie ein Wunder“ hat die Liboriusstatue den Krieg nahezu unversehrt überstanden und überragte die Trümmerberge. Dadurch ist sie zu einem wichtigen Hoffnungssymbol der Paderborner geworden.
Die Einfassung des Springbrunnens musste jedoch nach dem Krieg erneuert werden.
Am modernen Geschäftsgebäude unmittelbar hinter dem Brunnen wurde ein historisches Portal eingebaut. Dieses Portal stammt ursprünglich vom ebenfalls zerstörten Gerichtsgefängnis, welches sich an der Königsstr. / Ecke Marienstr. (heute C&A) befand.

The citizens’ medieval water supply came from several wells, known in Paderborn as “Kümpe.”
One of these "Kümpe" is the Liborikump, which features a statue of Saint Liborius.
The original well was built in 1586; at the end of the 19th century, it was converted into a fountain featuring the statue of Saint Liborius.
Saint Liborius is the patron saint of the city and the Archdiocese of Paderborn and thus holds special significance, not least for the grand Libori Festival.
During World War II, Paderborn was almost completely destroyed, but “as if by a miracle,” the statue of Saint Liborius survived the war virtually unscathed and towered over the mountains of rubble. As a result, it has become an important symbol of hope for the people of Paderborn.
However, the fountain’s surround had to be rebuilt after the war.
A historic portal was incorporated into the modern commercial building immediately behind the fountain. This portal originally came from the courthouse prison—which was also destroyed—located at the corner of Königsstr. and Marienstr. (today’s C&A).

An information plaque detailing the history of the fountain is located about 12 meters north of the fountain.

Ebenfalls am rückseitigen Denkmalsockel der Statue befindet sich eine Inschrift bestehend aus zwei lateinischen Wörtern (= Wort1/2)

Standing in front of the fountain, there is a relief on the border—at the very bottom—and immediately to the right and left of the relief, you’ll see a year. (= Year on the border)
On the back of the statue’s pedestal, there is another year (= year on the pedestal)
Also on the back of the statue’s pedestal, there is an inscription consisting of two Latin words (= Word 1/2)
Use these 3 elements to form an email address as follows—see example:
