Standing in the heart of Old San Juan is the Catedral Metropolitana Basílica de San Juan Bautista, the oldest cathedral on U.S. soil, and the second oldest in the Western Hemisphere (the only older is in Santo Domingo, D.R.). As a cornerstone of Puerto Rico’s religious and architectural history, its walls have witnessed centuries of hurricanes, invasions, restorations, and celebrations. Today, it remains an active parish and a beloved landmark for visitors from around the world.
