Porin lentoasema on historiallisesti merkittävä lentokenttä, jolla on ollut tärkeä rooli Suomen ilmailuhistoriassa ja erityisesti suihkukoneliikenteen käynnistymisessä. Alun perin jo 1930-luvulla perustettu kenttä toimi sotavuosina vilkkaana tukikohtana ja koki merkittävän modernisaation, kun sinne rakennettiin Suomen ensimmäiset kestopäällysteiset kiitotiet.
Lentoasemalta löytyvät mm. seuraavat muistomerkit:
1. Suomalaisen suihkulentämisen 60-vuotismuistomerkki (Vampire-muistomerkki) (WP1)
Tämä tammikuussa 2013 paljastettu teos pystytettiin kunnioittamaan historiallista hetkeä, jolloin Suomen Ilmavoimien ensimmäiset suihkukoneet – kolme englantilaista de Havilland Vampire -hävittäjää – laskeutuivat Porin lentokentälle 22. tammikuuta 1953 kello 12.22.
Teos on sijoitettu kummulle tulotien varteen siten, että sen etusivu katsoo kohti luodetta eli Mäntyluodon suuntaa – täsmälleen sinne, mistä ensimmäinen suihkukonelaivue aikoinaan saapui kentän ylle.

Katso esimerkkikuvat.
Tarvitset siis kaksi kuvaa - yksi kummaltakin muistomerkiltä.
Kuvista on löydyttävä seuraavat asiat:
- muistomerkki
- sinä itse tai jokin osa sinusta
- nimimerkkisi
- käyntipäivämäärä

Pori Airport is a historically significant airfield that has played an important role in Finnish aviation history, particularly in the inception of jet aircraft operations. Originally established back in the 1930s, the airfield served as a busy base during the war years and underwent a major modernization when Finland's first paved runways were constructed there.
The following monuments can be found at the location:
1. The 60th Anniversary Monument of Finnish Jet Aviation (The Vampire Monument) (WP1)
Unveiled in January 2013, this artwork was erected to honor the historic moment when the Finnish Air Force's first jet aircraft – three British de Havilland Vampire fighters – landed at Pori airfield on January 22, 1953, at 12:22 PM.
The monument is situated on a hill along the access road, positioned so that its front faces northwest towards Mäntyluoto – exactly the direction from which the first jet squadron originally arrived over the airfield.
2. Fighter Squadron 21 Monument (WP2)
Pori was the long-time home base for Fighter Squadron 21 (HävLLv 21) before the wing relocated to Tampere-Pirkkala.
The bronze plaque attached to the stone depicts the squadron's emblem along with a text listing the Finnish Air Force units that operated at the Pori airfield after the war, as well as the aircraft types they used.
