La tour Perret
La tour Perret, bien connue des grenoblois, est située dans le parc Paul Mistral, derrière la mairie. Elle a été construite entre mai 1924 et mai 1925, pour l'exposition internationale de la Houille Blanche et du tourisme de 1925. Elle est en béton armé, une première mondiale pour une tour ; elle a été classée monument historique en 1998.
Elle a été conçue par l'architecte Auguste Perret, qui a beaucoup oeuvré au Havre après la seconde guerre mondiale.
Malheureusement, à cause d'un manque constant d'entretien, la tour se dégrade, malgré une tentative de restauration dans les années 50 ; elle est fermée au public en 1966 et ce n'est qu'en 2021 que des travaux sérieux et complets sont entrepris, ce qui va permettre la réouverture au public prévue pour juin 2026.
Vous pourrez peut être profiter de votre venue pour avoir le privilège de monter dans la tour, soit par les ascenseurs, soit, pour les plus courageux, par les escaliers !

The Perret Tower, well-known to Grenoble residents, is located in Paul Mistral Park, behind the town hall. It was built between May 1924 and May 1925 for the 1925 International Exhibition of Hydropower and Tourism. Constructed of reinforced concrete, a world first for a tower ; it was listed as a historical monument in 1998.
It was designed by the architect Auguste Perret, who worked extensively in Le Havre after the Second World War.
Unfortunately, due to a persistent lack of maintenance, the tower is deteriorating, despite a restoration attempt in the 1950s. It was closed to the public in 1966, and it wasn't until 2021 that serious and comprehensive renovations were undertaken, allowing for its reopening to the public, scheduled for June 2026.
You might even be able to take advantage of your visit to have the privilege of going up the tower, either by elevator or, for the bravest, by the stairs!
