When Canada aided the U.S.A. in the war of Afghanistan. Fallen Members were repatriated Canada; here at C.F.B. Trenton. Then driven to Toronto, via 401. Thus, in 2008 became the Highway of Heroes.
The Monument was funded by public funds erected in honour of the fallen soldiers and opened to the public November 11, 2012
