»Silberpfeile« bezeichnet Deutsche Grand-Prix-Rennwagen der 1930er-Jahre mit silbernen Aluminiumkarosserien. Sie erzielten zahlreiche internationale Erfolge und wurden zu einem prägenden Mythos der Motorsportgeschichte. Zu den bedeutenden Fahrern dieser Epoche zählen Rudolf Caracciola, Bernd Rosemeyer, Stirling Moss und Juan Manuel Fangio. Der Begriff etablierte sich als Synonym für technische Spitzenleistung im Rennsport und Deutsche Motorsport-Fahrzeuge.

In der Mitte der 1950er-Jahre wurde die Tradition mit einem neu entwickelten Grand-Prix-Wagen fortgeführt. Ein 2,5-Liter-Achtzylindermotor mit Direkteinspritzung, innovative Motoranordnung und Einzelradaufhängung kennzeichneten das Fahrzeug. Mit diesem Typ gewann Juan Manuel Fangio die Formel-1-Weltmeisterschaften 1954 und 1955. Bei einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von über 300 km/h und einer Produktionszahl von 14 Exemplaren gilt das Modell als Ikone des Motorsports. 

Ein besonders seltenes stromlinienförmiges Exemplar erzielte 2025 bei einer Auktion einen Preis von über 51 Millionen Euro – ein Rekordwert und bis heute der teuerste jemals versteigerte Grand-Prix-Rennwagen. Dieser Virtual bietet dir die Gelegenheit in einem Silberpfeil Platz zu nehmen.

  Silver Arrows   

“Silver Arrows” refers to German Grand Prix racing cars of the 1930s featuring silver aluminum bodywork. They achieved numerous international successes and became an enduring myth in motorsport history. Notable drivers of this era include Rudolf Caracciola, Bernd Rosemeyer, Stirling Moss, and Juan Manuel Fangio. The term became synonymous with technical excellence in racing and German motorsport vehicles.

In the mid-1950s, the tradition continued with a newly developed Grand Prix car. The vehicle was characterized by a 2.5-liter straight-eight engine with direct fuel injection, an innovative engine configuration, and independent suspension. Juan Manuel Fangio won the Formula One World Championships in 1954 and 1955 with this model. With a top speed of over 186 mph and a production run of just 14 units, the car is regarded as an icon of motorsport.

A particularly rare streamlined example achieved a price of more than $60 million (£44 million) at auction in 2025 – a record figure and, to this day, the most expensive Grand Prix racing car ever sold at auction. This virtual experience offers you the opportunity to take a seat in a Silver Arrow.
