Flyplassen ligger i Sola, 15 km sørvest for Stavanger og 10 km nordvest for Sandnes i Rogaland. Sola hadde 66 267 flybevegelser og omtrent 3 970 000 passasjerer i 2024. Flyplassen har også betydelig helikoptertrafikk til og fra oljeplattformer i Nordsjøen.
